First clip from Batman: The Dark Knight Returns! [video]

The film adaptation of Frank Miller's Batman: The Dark Knight Returns won't be released until the end of September but fans can now get a glimpse of the first official clip.

The first clip shows us Batman's first reappearance since he has retired and even the Gotham police department seems to be excited at seeing him. Though this is a short clip it appears that this adaptation will be faithful to the 1986 comic. They even put the classic comic cover into it which we can see here in this clip (Batman jumping through the sky with the lightning striking behind him).

The official synopsis states:
It's been a decade since Bruce Wayne hung up his cape, following most of the other superheroes who had been forced into retirement. Facing the downside of middle age, a restless Bruce Wayne pacifies his frustration with race cars and liquor - but the bat still beckons as he watches his city fall prey to gangs of barbaric criminals known as The Mutants.
The movie is voiced by Peter Weller (RoboCop) as Batman, David Selby as Commissioner Gordon, Ariel Winter as Robin, Wade Williams as Two-Face, and Michael McKean as Dr. Bartholomew Wolper.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns will hit shelves on September 25, 2012.
