James Gunn reveals a new character for Guardians of the Galaxy with an on set photo!

Director James Gunn has just released a new photo from the set of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and it introduces fans to a new character! The image shows actor Chris Pratt, who plays Peter Quill, standing next to actress Melia Kreiling in full makeup and costume as Bereet. Bereet made her first comic appearance in Rampaging Hulk #1 (1977, later revealed to be a fictional story created by Bereet), then again in Incredible Hulk #269 (1982, Earth 616). This will be the character's movie debut. Could the appearance of Bereet mean that the rumored fate of the Hulk in Avengers: Age of Ultron is true? It's really cool that Bereet will be making her big screen debut and it'll be interesting to see how she is used in the film.

Unusual features of Bereet:
"As a Krylorian, Bereet shares the traits of her part-bird part-mammal people. They have feather crests on their heads, two fingers and a thumb on each hand, and two toes on each foot. Their bones are hollow, which accounts for Bereet's low weight. They have high, musical voices."

Abilities:
Having mastered the technology of her world, Bereet creates artificial life-forms known as her “techno-art creations”. Through these abilities she has become an accomplished filmmaker.

What do you think about the inclusion of Bereet in Guardians of the Galaxy? Do you think she'll be more than a small cameo?

Guardians of the Galaxy will be in theaters on August 1, 2014.
