Director David Yates is in talks to direct the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!

It appears that a familiar name to the Harry Potter franchise may be returning!

Director David Yates is quite familiar with the franchise having directed four of the eight films; Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Variety is reporting that Yates is now in talks to return to the franchise to direct the upcoming spin-off trilogy Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. There is currently no word if an agreement has been made.

The script for Fantastic Beasts is currently being worked on by book series author J.K. Rowling and it will follow the Hogwarts textbook of the same name. The film is said to follow the adventures of the fictional textbook's author, Newt Scamander.

If Yates agrees to sign on to the film he will join it once his commitments with Tarzan are finished this November. Are you excited to see David Yates possibly return to the franchise?

The first film of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trilogy is set to be released on November 18, 2016.
