Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. could be getting its own spin-off series!

In a surprise move it is being reported by Entertainment Weekly that Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be getting its own spin-off series soon. This news has fans puzzled since some already call Agent Carter a spin-ff series and are wondering why Marvel is moving to give S.H.I.E.L.D. a spin-off instead of confirming Agent Carter for a second season.

ABC has not yet greenlit this spin-off idea yet, or Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for Season 3 for that matter, but Marvel seems to be developing it just in case. It is being developed by Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producer Jeffrey Bell (Angel, The X-Files) and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. writer Paul Zbyszewski (Lost, Hawaii Five-0). From the information we get from Entertainment Weekly it is clear that the spin-off will be set in the current day in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"We don’t know is which characters from the current series will be moving over to the proposed spinoff – so let the speculation being on that. There won’t be an implanted pilot episode this season directly setting up the spinoff, either (like how CW launched The Flash out of Arrow). However, story elements that are still to come on SHIELD this year will be used to lay the groundwork for the potential new series. So by the end of the season – assuming the details for this project haven’t already leaked, which is rather unlikely – the spinoff concept should be clear."
It is completely possible that this spin-off series could focus on the Inhumans and will build up their story leading to the Inhumans film on July 12, 2019. That would be really cool. Are you excited about the possibility of a Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off series? What would you want it to be about?
